ABSTRACT
Navigating the —rst few months on the job is oŸen a journey about moving from initial hopes to the reality and understanding of real possibilities and constraints. It is a time of getting to know others and how the o§ce works. It is about getting to know others’ expectations of themselves and their work and discussing how their expectations may a£ect us; it is also a time for articulating our expectations and professional commitments to others and discussing them. It is a time of aligning oneself with the working styles of others and of dealing with expectations for —tting in. Indeed there is much to discuss with others in the —rst few months.
