ABSTRACT

Chiral molecular structures can exist in two enantiomeric forms of opposite absolute con˜guration (AC). Most bioactive natural products are chiral, and their biological activity is closely related to their chirality, that is, absolute con˜guration and conformation. Therefore, the unambiguous determination of the absolute con˜guration of chiral compounds is essential for the complete characterization of natural products and their interaction with biomolecular systems (Mason 1982).
