ABSTRACT

This chapter is meant primarily for researchers in nonmedical ™elds. We will discuss some biological ™ndings generated in studies involving boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) and gadolinium neutron capture therapy (GdNCT). For more complete understanding of how these therapies are used in cancer treatment, we also include a number of illustrations and ™gures from clinical studies. Because of the authors’ interests, this chapter concentrates mainly on the use of neutron capture therapy (NCT) for brain tumors. There are other aspects of NCT, such as its application to head and neck tumors that show great promise, but, due to space limitations, will not be speci™cally addressed.
