Why is good housekeeping and organization the second principle? When an organization commits to making quantum leaps in performance, it’s important to be able to sustain the improvement. Integral to that is a high degree of involvement by the hourly workforce in preparation of taking ownership of their jobs-in other words, in preparation for the culture change that must evolve to make long-term sustainability possible. So what is a better way to get broad-based involvement than with a 5S initiative where everyone on all shifts will have to become involved and committed?
