ABSTRACT

Failure analysis aims to identify the events which inhibit a technical system from performing its function appropriately. It also indicates the pathways through which the cause of the failure can be eliminated or the effects on the function it carries out can be mitigated. In this context, failure analysis is an important requirement used by all who develop and operate technical systems, including designers, manufacturers, and users. It is a process that is constantly evolving and the more that the technology involved in the system under analysis develops, the more important and complex the analysis becomes.
