ABSTRACT

The airline industry has led the revolution in revenue management pricing.* On the whole, airfares are a complex set of fare classes, where each fare class is subject to a myriad of restrictions. Deriving the best set of fare classes to offer for a single route alone is highly complex, but the complexity increases dramatically as the number of route segments grows. The best price for a seat on any particular µight leg typically also depends on the demand for that seat by all potential passengers that might use that leg as part of their journey.
