ABSTRACT

Until now we have discussed suicide bombing and how law enforcement of‚cers working in Western urban environments can defend their societies against this phenomenon. We have portrayed the victims: the person eating a meal in a restaurant, the passenger on a bus, the customer shopping in an open-air market. But another victim exists: the ‚rst responder who visits suicide bombing sites on a repeated basis-and eventually becomes another “victim” of these attacks. Not every ‚rst responder becomes a victim, but enough do to warrant our attention.
