ABSTRACT
Acid sulfate soil materials are distinguished from other soil materials by having properties and behavior that have either (1) been a¦ected considerably (mainly by severe acidication) by the oxidation of reduced inorganic sulfur (RIS) or (2) the capacity to be a¦ected considerably (again mainly by severe acidication) by the oxidation of their RIS constituents.
