ABSTRACT

The budget spent on information technology and communications in any public or private organization is awesome, and that can be confirmed by any executive director who is asked about the subject. A company or organization makes an independent selection of the budget management approach that will serve its business needs and interests. The approach to budget management is simply a matter of personal preference, where the influence of individuals at senior staff and management levels in the organization will determine the approach and alignment of the budget management process. Project budgets are managed according to an approach established within the organization, and information technology budgets created for each project will contribute to the overall budget of the organization. Budgets are normally prepared on an annual basis, and the rigidity of the process requires projects to be considered and discussed well in advance of their planned start dates in order to include them in the annual budgets for the upcoming year.
