ABSTRACT

Information systems have experienced a dizzying transformation, with their role gaining a growing importance since their entry into the business world in recent years. This transformation has radically changed all aspects of information systems, including the hardware and equipment used by companies, the basic software and applications, and the technical training provided to system users. The level of maturity achieved in these organizations differs depending on such things as the starting position of each organization, the market or industry in which business is conducted, and the prevailing business culture and its receptiveness to technology-based solutions. Computers and related applications were introduced, usually in a context of significant corporate growth and rapid business expansion. With the introduction of process management in the business environment, information systems became emancipated from administrative departments as they spread to other areas of organizations.
