ABSTRACT

Individuals have always sought the opportunity to be measured and compared with others in order to know, set up, and claim what is considered to be their place in society as it develops. Computing power has emerged from computing centers and into business offices and homes, allowing it to become personal and ubiquitous. Technology components are continuously evolving to meet new and more demanding information management requirements. Among the most illustrious historical inventions and generally accepted precursors of information technology and modern communication is the “analytical engine” created by the British mathematician and engineer Charles Babbage. In 1951, the Universal Computer appeared as the first commercial computer; it provided 1000 words of core memory and could read magnetic tape. The use of transistors in the construction of computers provided important advantages, including much lower energy consumption and prolonged component life.
