ABSTRACT
The U.S. intelligence community (IC)1 is a group of agencies and organizations within the executive branch that work both independently and collaboratively to gather the intelligence necessary to conduct foreign relations and national security activities, including counterterrorism (CT). The director of national intelligence (DNI) serves as both the head of the IC and its interagency intelligence “hub.”
