H∞ control and H2 control are two prevailing design methods. In Section 3.4, it was seen that the necessary and sufficient condition for robust performance analysis could be obtained when the system performance was specified in terms of ∞-norm. For controller design, however, 2-norm is mathematically more convenient to treat.
