ABSTRACT

Various formulae indicated in the text and their applications are illustrated by considering suitable problems. Problems are solved from the basic definitions of various quantities in order to have clear understanding. The assay value of an ore, and the products, is determined by chemical analysis or by other instrumental methods after collecting samples from them. Metal values present in the ore vary with the size of the particle which depends on the liberation characteristics of the ore. A screen is said to behave perfectly if, in a mixture of different sizes of materials, all material of a particular size less than the screen aperture is separated from the mixture. Screen efficiency can be calculated based on the amount of material recovered at a given size. Reduction ratio of any crusher can be determined from the sieve analysis of the feed and product of that crusher.
