ABSTRACT
Exogenous or endogenous exposure to chemicals or therapeutic drugs results frequently in structural and functional alterations in the eye and central visual system. In many instances, alterations in visual function are the ¢rst and sometimes only clinical sign of toxicity. Ophthalmoscopic examinations are therefore an important part of most safety toxicology studies.
