ABSTRACT
Schizophyllum is a wood-decaying fungus and S. commune is the single species up to now involved in human diseases. S. commune is found on every continent except Antarctica where the wood substrate is lacking. Although it is encountered throughout the year, it is more abundant during the cold raining season in tropical countries.5
