ABSTRACT

Two-phase ow in microchannels is an active research area spurred mainly by new developments in high heat ux cooling of microelectronics. However, other applications such as microuidic sensors and biological diagnostic tools, for example, lab-on-a-chip devices, experience two-phase and multiphase ows. Details of ow hydrodynamics, pressure drop, and heat transfer characteristics are required in the analysis and design of these devices.
