ABSTRACT

The genus Phyllanthus L. is the largest genus of the family Phyllanthaceae (alt. Euphorbiaceae) (Nozeran et al., 1984; Calixto et al., 1998; GRIN Database, 2011). It comprises more than 800 species of annuals, perennials, shrubs, climbers, and •oating aquatics, mainly from the tropical and the subtropical countries. The species of this genus are classi‹ed under 11 subgenera: Botryanthus, Cicca, Conani, Emblica, Ericocus, Gomphidium, Isocladus, Kirganelia, Phyllanthodendron, Phyllanthus, and Xylophylla.
