ABSTRACT
Emblica ofcinalis (EO) (syn Phyllanthus emblica L.) (Phyllanthaceae) has been used therapeutically in traditional Indian medicine. Fruits of EO have been used for the treatment of a wide variety of diseases, including diabetes, atherosclerosis, and cancer, and are well known for rejuvenating properties. Scienti‹c evaluations have attributed antioxidant, anti-in•ammatory, antiulcer, hepatoprotective, antipyretic, antibacterial, antiparasitic, and antiviral properties to this plant. EO is also proven to possess strong anticancer properties, described in detail in this chapter.
