Yard-Long Bean

Scientific Name: Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp. subsp. sesquipedalis (L.) Verdc. (V. sinensis (L.) Savi ex Hassk. subsp. sesquipedalis (L.) Van Eselt.)

• The names yard-long bean, spaghetti pole, snake bean, garter bean (presumably for the garter snake), long-podded cowpea, and Chinese long bean (dow guak in China) obviously were coined to indicate the remarkable length of these beans.
