ABSTRACT

Polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs), commonly proton exchange membrane fuel cells and liquid methanol fed PEMFCs called direct methanol fuel cells (DMFCs) are the types that presently assume competitive importance from the application, particularly as portable, durable, and micropower sources, point of view. Hydrogen PEMFCs have found a place in vehicles and mobile application and in lower power combined heat and power systems. DMFCs on the other hand find the most suitable application in low-power portable electronic systems working for long time periods.
