ABSTRACT

It is not known what the long term effect of the events and turmoil of 2011 in Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, and the rest of the Middle East will have on oil exploration and production in the area. According to Fugro Robertson, Egypt was ranked first by companies who were interested in new ventures (AAPG Explorer, Oct. 2008). The changes in the political scene in Libya prior to the “revolutions” promised a more active exploration for oil with some successes. There is no doubt that this picture will change for the next while until stability returns to the area.
