ABSTRACT

The purpose of this chapter is to address the practical considerations involved in implementing a data mining project. This treatment includes many of the lessons learned by the author during 25 years of work in data analytics and trainable application development. It suggests not only steps to take for project success, but also mistakes to avoid. It presents a method for computing the return on investment for a data mining project. This chapter also introduces the reader to modern multi-paradigm and hierarchical data mining architectures.
