ABSTRACT

The Rapid Load Test (RLT) appears to be a good and economical alternative to the Static Load Test (SLT) on piles. Examples of this test method are Statnamic (Janes, Bermingham et al. 1991), the Pseudo-Static Pile Load Tester (Schellingerhout and Revoort 1996) and the Spring Hammer Device (Matsumoto, Matsuzawa et al. 2008). However, in Europe the application of such tests is hampered by the uncertainty about the interpretation of the test. This hindrance can be overcome by proper regulation of the test and its interpretation. These guidelines are meant to contribute to the quality of interpretation.
