ABSTRACT
Sandstone is a sort of engineering medium which exists extensively in geotechnical engineering fields of the water conservancy, traffic and architecture etc. The strength and deformation of joint sandstone have an important influence on the project’s stability. The joint inclination and confining pressure can change considerably which affects the strength of sandstone greatly. At present, much research about the mechanical properties of rock mass including structural plane or bedding is developed (Mao et al. 2005 & Li et al. 2008). However, if it depends on test means merely, the samples are few and short of representativeness, and the tests are uneconomical. It is very effective to combine lab tests with numerical tests (Wang 2006).
