ABSTRACT

Figure 12.4 shows a plot of overall reaction mass ef“ciency (RME) versus and VMR obtained from the radial hexagon analysis based on 587 plans for compounds with multiple plans as noted in Chapter 13. No plans had overall RMEs exceeding the golden threshold limit of 61.8%. When comparing this plot with Figure 12.2 for the AE trend with VMR, one notes that the RME plot shows a signi“cant compression in the y-axis. Again, the majority of plans gravitate in the left-hand corner of the plot. The top “ve plans in order of RME values are as follows: (a) Roesler plan [20] for vanillin (51.8); (b) Givaudan-Roure [17,18] plan for vanillin (50.4); (c) McQuade [27] plan for (S)-(+)-pregabalin hydrochloride (47.9); (d) Dominion Rubber [22,23] plan for DEET (41.4); and (e) Volynkin [29] plan for vanillin (40.2).
