ABSTRACT
IGATE provides combined platform for client’s software and business process outsourcing needs and has large operations in India. Entrepreneurship is conditioned by different types of cultural and business environments, realities, and situations on the ground. During the good times, with the IT industry growing at a fast pace over the last several years, firms did not pay too much attention to the type of contracts as long as business was coming in. The short-term time and material contracts are more sensitive to external business environment changes when compared to fixed-price long-term contracts, which tend to be more stable. The proportion of committed business is much smaller, but the understanding in these multiyear, multimillion-dollar contracts is that newer business will also flow to the same vendor. The people factor prompted Barclays to move quickly to acquire the North American business of Lehman before employees started leaving the firm.
