ABSTRACT

During the early years of outsourcing in India, between 1996 and 2000, the driving factors were pioneers and size. High-quality infrastructure supporting large operations were built, and operational cultures previously seen only in Western shared service centers were developed. To stay ahead Indian companies are ensuring stable quality systems, and continuous technology improvements, and are rapidly scaling up to match or surpass international quality standards. High quality and cost signify outsourcing to India. Established Indian suppliers handle services proficiently because they are equipped with sufficient field experience and resources needed to manage a range of services. India is one of the most favored destinations for contracting/outsourcing projects and services, with the country poised to become a price setter globally. Policies and government investments are favorable, providing impetus to the outsourcing process, and according to National Association of Software and Service Companies almost every Fortune 100 company wants to outsource its IT services to India, with more than half of Fortune 500 companies having already done it.
