As described earlier in this book, Lean thinking has five basic principles, as shown in Figure 17.1.
Lean is all about creating value for customers. This involves understanding what the customer wants, which may be very different from the product
we deliver. A critical examination of value from the customer’s point of view provides the basis for more effective product and process design.
