ABSTRACT

In Chapters 3 and 8, we described a set of measurements for a starter set for Lean manufacturers. These were presented at the cell, value stream, and plant levels as examples of the type of measures that support Lean goals and that many Lean companies have found helpful in sustaining their Lean programs. We do not claim that these are the best or only measurements. The term “starter set” implies that the company will modify the measurements to suit its unique circumstances. In this chapter, we develop a method and rationale for tailoring these measures.
