ABSTRACT
This chapter covers fundamentals of remote sensing. It provides the basic definitions, principles of electromagnetic radiation, the main physical laws related to electromagnetic radiation, and characteristics of the electrometric spectrum. The chapter then gives interactions between electromagnetic energy and the atmosphere and surface of the Earth features which will be needed to follow the remaining parts of this book.
