ABSTRACT
This chapter briefly covers the use of remote sensing in slope monitoring. It discusses the causes and consequences of slope failures in surface mines and it emphasizes the significance of slope monitoring for effective mining. The typical use of remote sensing is presented by a case study performed for Ovacık abandoned coal mine in Turkey.
