Law enforcement is a division of the executive branch of government, whether the level is federal, state, local, metropolitan, or municipal. given police unit. Also, with the burden of a huge statute book, parts of which are difficult to enforce or are unenforceable under the Constitution, police agencies or political groups may choose which crimes to prioritize.
