ABSTRACT

Chapter 12 illustrates how different stakeholders may select different nanomanufacturing technologies based on available information on risks associated with materials produced and characteristics of the manufacturing process. Uncertainty was high, especially as it related to the risks associated with nanomaterials. In this chapter, we assume that there is a possibility of gathering information regarding the performances of each manufacturing process under different criteria. Some interesting questions arise: Is it worth investing in the collection of additional information, and is this information value-added for the decision at hand? For different stakeholders, which is the most value-added information? What is the best information-acquiring strategy? These questions can be answered by VoI analysis.
