ABSTRACT
Let’s revisit the log chain concept. œere are two weak links of 500 lbs. and 1,000 lbs., respectively, and all the other links can handle 2,000 lbs. each. With these weak links in the chain, the chain can handle the capacity of only the weakest link, which is 500 lbs. Do we throw away the entire chain, or do we ™nd the two weak links and replace them? Normally we spend the time to ™nd the weak links and replace them because it’s cheaper.
