ABSTRACT

Although the latter is largely reviewed in Chapter 8, the ‘rst group is represented by several particular topics whose signi‘cance within the electrochemistry with carbon paste-based electrodes is indisputable. The ‘rst is the extensive research on the electrode reactions of organic compounds reviewed for the ‘rst time here (in Section 7.1) as the authors’ homage to the carbon paste inventor. Of particular attention should also be the solid-state electrochemistry with carbon paste electroactive electrodes (CPEEs) as well as voltammetry in vivo, covered in Sections 7.2 and 7.3 in honor of the fact that both disciplines have spawned together 250 remarkable scienti‘c papers, that is, almost one tenth of all publications concerning carbon pastes. Finally, there are also special studies that, as such, are dif‘cult to be unambiguously categorized and of which typical examples are gathered in Section 7.4.
