Groundwater Charge and Rainwater Consumption for Agricultural Water Management

In Chapter 4, the results show that the financial feasibility of rainwater harvesting depends on charging for groundwater. If groundwater is not charged, no rainwater harvesting plants, regardless of size are financially feasible. If groundwater is charged at 2 Yuan per m3, only large rainwater harvesting plants are financially feasible while small and medium size plants are not. If the charge for groundwater increases, rainwater harvesting could become financially more attractive, but it also could discourage farming. In Chapter 5, the relationship between groundwater charges and rainwater use is studied.
