ABSTRACT
In this chapter, a case illustrates the urine alcohol test to detect the scent of alcohol. Such tests, if available, would be quite useful for law enforcement as well as for medical management. Patients with end-stage liver disease come for liver transplants. Doctors would like to wean such patients from alcohol. To make sure that they abstain from alcohol before they put in a new liver, they are tested for the presence of alcohol in their blood. Law enforcement would like to have a test to detect recent alcohol use. us far, no such reliable test is available.
