ABSTRACT

Planning for transition and turnover of responsibility from development to maintenance shops should be conducted early in the development life cycle. Working groups should be formed to engage all organizations involved as requirements are being formulated. is working group should then be tasked to develop a transition and turnover plan by the time of release of code to testing. is gives those responsible for maintenance su±cient time to ready the facilities needed to conduct it (i.e., train

the people and acquire the equipment, licenses, and test gear required to operate the maintenance facility). To ensure readiness, an operational readiness review should be conducted prior to the transfer, but normally right aœer acceptance testing. e §nal step is to execute the plan. Updates should be incorporated on an annual basis.
