ABSTRACT

The case study of this research concentrates on predicting the storm surges in the North Sea, specifically at Hoek van Holland as the entrance of Rotterdam Harbor. This research is executed by collaboration between UNESCO-IHE and Rijkswaterstaat/Deltares and partly funded by Delft Cluster Project on "Safety against floods". Rijkswaterstaat/Deltares with NOOS data exchange facility provides observation and prediction data, such as sea water level and surge along the coastlines of North Sea. This involves several meteorological institutions from European countries surrounding the North Sea, include: Netherlands, Germany, UK, Denmark, Norway and Belgium.
