ABSTRACT

Physiochemical is a term that describes the combined effect of both the physical and chemical properties of a soil that deƒne its characteristics. Many of the physiochemcial soil properties are partially deƒned by the percentage content of sand, silt, and clay, mineral particles of different physical size (see pages 49-50), the content and chemical properties of organic matter (see Chapter 10, “Soil Organic Matter”), and the biological activity of organisms (bacteria, fungi, worms, etc.) in the soil.
