ABSTRACT

Chapters in this text discuss various evidence types-biological, impression, trace, and so on-including the collection and preservation techniques. While these comprise the most common evidentiary categories, many are not included because they are beyond the scope of an introductory text. And while it is impossible to anticipate all the evidence that might be encountered during any individual investigation, it might be valuable for investigators to have a more comprehensive list of evidence types including those discussed in the chapters. The following list covers many evidence categories, but there are rules of thumb that apply to all evidence types that have not been presented previously as a specific topic.
