ABSTRACT
Landfi ll Gas (LFG) recovery and utilization is a part of good integrated waste management for most of the Municipalities and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in the developing countries. However, scientifi c management of existing and proposed landfi ll sites and recovery of LFG in an environmentally sound manner is a challenge in many developing countries. This is due to lack of technical capability and lack of fi nancial incentives in these countries. In addition, the governments have not developed a comprehensive action plan to encourage LFG recovery and use. In this chapter, an action plan is presented to overcome the challenges to utilization of LFG.
