ABSTRACT
In IBIS sediment management has been in practice since the inception of the irrigation system. Almost all of the effective techniques are applied for this purpose including design and operation of the irrigation canals and regular desilting of the canals on annual basis. Every year in the month of January the whole irrigation system is closed and almost all of the silt affected secondary irrigation canals are desilted, depending upon the availability of funds. In addition to desiltation, other canal maintenance works are also executed like berm strengthening, vegetation removal, structures repair, etc.
