ABSTRACT

A prediction-error (PE) †lter is an array of numbers designed to interpolate missing parts of data such that the interpolated parts have the same spectral content as the existing parts. The data can be a one-dimensional (1D) time series, a two-dimensional (2D) image, or a three-dimensional quantity such as subsurface material property. In this chapter, we discuss the application of a PE †lter to recover missing parts of an image when a low-resolution image of the missing parts is available.
