ABSTRACT

Remote sensing offers a very suitable possibility for obtaining geographically and temporally detailed data on land cover and its dynamic behavior. The main advantage of satellite and airborne systems is the possibility to obtain relatively cheap and rapid methods of acquiring up-to-date information over a large geographical area. Scienti†c advancements made possible the use of remote sensing in a variety of disciplines such as agriculture, forestry, hydrology, geology, cartography, and meteorology.
