ABSTRACT
This chapter presents an overview of the quantitative feedback theory (QFT) to enhance the understanding of the technique, which is introduced in the following chapters. A discussion of why feedback is needed to achieve performance goals is presented Žrst. This is followed by a QFT overview of design objectives, an explanation of structured parametric uncertainty, a design overview, and QFT basics and design. The last few sections are devoted to the insight provided by the QFT technique and to the beneŽts of QFT.
