ABSTRACT
The pharmacokinetic teaching and simulation program included in the companion CD consists of a collection of modules developed with the objective of utilization of computer capabilities to illustrate the different pharmacokinetic concepts. The pharmacokinetic concepts are ideal for computer-based presentations and simulations because the drug concentration-time prole in the body can be described by mathematical expressions that include the drug pharmacokinetic parameters that control the rate of drug absorption, distribution, and elimination. This makes graphical presentations very useful in visualizing the effect of each pharmacokinetic parameter on the drug concentration-time prole and the overall drug disposition. The pharmacokinetic program is interactive and relies mainly on graphical presentations and simulations to illustrate the pharmacokinetic concepts.
