ABSTRACT

Access to the child is pivotal in the relationship in controlling the situation and focusing on the goal to sexually exploit their victim. O¦en the sexual predator seeks out the opportunity to sexually mistreat the child through continuous planning and manipulation. In his attempt to satisfy his sexual desires, the sexual predator will patiently draw upon a natural activity with which the child is familiar and that he or she understands. He may change his plan or course of action, depending on the situation. He will wait for the right moment to get the child alone, getting the victim to believe that he is harmless and poses no risk. Children invariably view adults as protectors, not o€enders.
