ABSTRACT

News cycles measured in minutes rather than hours are also 24/7. Traditional media sources are only one of several places people look to for news and instructions on what to do in an emergency. A rapid response to an event is essential to managing the event. A communication plan that includes the management of a crisis is necessary and potentially dangerous. Without a plan, indecision freezes organizations because no one for sure knows where to begin. A plan is potentially dangerous because it can give an illusion that the organization is fully prepared. Having a plan is not a guarantee that you will recover from a crisis.
